Un Ballo in Maschera by Verdi premiered at the Finnish National Opera on March 19, 2010. The version presented was the so-called Boston version and explored why Riccardon/Gustav III is murdered at the end of the opera. Since the opera explores power on a private and general level, the interpretation was firmly modern and media-influenced.
